Empathy in Movement(s) is an expansion or a continuation of the empathy theme explored during the 2016 Pixelache Festival. While the 2016 Interfaces for Empathy festival was looking at empathy at a microlevel interaction between different agents, EiM(s) will explore the complicated challenges of scaling the same ideas onto a macrolevel. While we obviously acknowledge the difficulty of maintaining empathy in macrolevel systems, it should be explored why this is so. The project focuses on empathy in structures and in movements.
Empathy in Movement(s) looks at the collective curatorial method and process, but not with a full-on creation of a new 'big project'. Instead it analyses the festival process from 2016, and applies learning from it into a slowly developing sequential event that will collaborate with other festivals and events.
