Audiovisual performance resulting of a collaboration between AVVX workshop participants and musicians Joel Tammik and Nuno Correia. Visuals developed using AVVX software. Baltic Diving Co. is an electronic music project by Joel Tammik (Estonia) and Nuno N. Correia (Portugal / Finland). They are influenced by the mysterious Baltic Sea, and its underwater secrets, stories and sounds. Baltic Diving Co. is a combination of Joel and Nuno’s musical and personal backgrounds, resulting in nordic atmospheres and submerged southern rhythms. Stylistically, the music ranges from ambient to IDM and deep house, but here “deep” has an added meaning – the deep sea. In live performances, realtime visuals are used to create a unique and consistent audiovisual experience, exploring the aquatic universe of Baltic Diving Co. Joel and Nuno have been active in electronic music for more than ten years. Joel has released several albums, under different aliases, in labels such as U-Cover (BE), Expanding Records (UK), Cactus Island (UK), Ulmeplaadid (EE) and his own Väli. Joel lives in Tallinn, Nuno in Helsinki – across the Baltic sea. Nuno has released music under his own name and as Coden. He has been developing audiovisual art as part of the duo Video Jack, performing in more than 20 countries. He is a teacher and researcher in media arts. Joel has a preference for vintage and analog electronic sounds, while Nuno is specialised in exploratory digital approaches.
Axel Thesleff (FI) has 30+ songs ready, almost all of them are on his Soundcloud. Most of them are IDM and kinda glitchy, and a few of them are ambient / non-beat tunes. He started making music about ten years ago (he was 11) and was always messing around with computers and music making software and a Korg synth that he had. He had started playing the piano / keyboard when he was 9 and he still do it. About 3-4 years ago he got Ableton Live and started making music more seriously. Currently he is studying musicology at the University of Helsinki, and I also is playing keyboards in a 70′s style prog band called Octopie. So when he is not studying music, he is making it. Video Jack (PT/FI) will use custom-built software enabling improvisational abstract animations based on vector graphics. The graphics are influenced by visual music pioneers such as Oskar Fischinger and John Whitney, and also by a contemporary generation of media artists such as Golan Levin and Toshio Iwai.
What does Skweee look like? DKSTR & Månsteri join their forces for an experimental performance to find out an answer to this age-old question. The artists will be tethered together with MIDI cables for seamless synchronization between the sound and visuals. DKSTR is Helsinki-based producer Heikki Sillanpää, who mixes chiptune and mysterious vibes of synthy world music to his take on skweee. Laptop free gigs include variety of drum machines and synths that often have gone through some modifications by the artist himself. Månsteri (Matti Niinimäki) is a media artist based in Helsinki, Finland. As a visualist, he mixes found footage with abstract generative graphics. All performed with custom-built controllers made from old clothing irons and other appliances.
Guided AV performance by Cinder workshop holder Krisjanis Rijnieks and Quartz Composer workshop holder Matti Niinimäki. Seven years of cello tuition set the stage for Sander Mölder’s musical exploits, granular synthesis and electro-acoustics, he is now the driving force behind OYT’s music. Currently working on his masters degree in composition from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, he has played in and produced for various bands and projects. Once a member of the Estonian nu-jazz group Cosmoskva, he now splits his time between current projects OYT, State of Zoe and Righteous Jazz Citizens. You can catch him playing keyboards in Leslie Da Bass live outfit, doing solo live performances with a laptop and a controller or playing one of his trademark soulful eclectic DJ-sets. Sander was recently chosen as the “one-to-watch-for-in-2012″ by Estonian newspaper Eesti Ekspress and he also joined the chosen few Estonians when he got selected as a participant for the 2011 Red Bull Music Academy. The set is mainly going to be future funk – soul/funk mixed with electronics, synths, beats and samples – easyThe Creative Coding for Live Visuals performance event is taking a place at Bar Sandro in Helsinki on April 13, 21:00-03:00. There is an exhibition at the Node Gallery that is located in the Aalto University Arabia campus. The exhibition is open weekdays from April 8 to 18, 10:00-18:00. The round shape of the screen is a symbol of completeness. It is the perception mechanism. There is always something that does not change in the perception and reflection process as well as the variable part that changes in every next situation. In this artwork the spherical object is the static part and the projections are variable.
Geometric primitives that are used in projections mathematically form a larger complex object. Similarly Greek prefix μετα is used to indicate a data about data circle, line and triangle creates the part of the sphere.
Sound in this installation has been made as a reflection of the perception of the visual part. Metasphere is a collaboration between Irina Spicaka (concept, visual design and mapping), Krisjanis Rijnieks (creative code, techniqal structure) and Platon Buravicky (sound). This exhibition is a part of the Creative Coding for Live Visuals events. The Creative Coding for Live Visuals concept has been identified by Irina Spicaka in her AV Research process at Pixelache platform within the context of the Pixelversity programme. She is also the developer of this project. Irina Spicaka is a digital audiovisual media artist from Latvia, currently residing in Finland. She is interested in the deconstruction of the classical rectangular screen by using projection mapping as her form of expression. Irina is also using mathematical logic and geometry as a visual and sound creation language. Working as a researcher and developer in electronic audiovisual performance field and as a graphic designer. She has also written several articles about electronic audiovisual culture that are published in Latvian music and culture magazine Veto.
She holds a BA in Visual Communication from Art Academy of Latvia. She has studied experimental video and mixed media at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. Currently Irina is working on her MA thesis that is related to electronic audiovisual performance. Krisjanis Rijnieks is a new media artist from Latvia, currently residing in Finland. He is interested in different digital and interactive media production techniques. For the past years he has been collaborating with Irina Spicaka in terms of artistic work and has been involved in different projects that include graphic design, animation and programming in Flash ActionScript, openFrameworks, Cinder and other programming languages / frameworks.
He holds a BA in Painting and is currently a student of the New Media MA program in the Helsinki Media Lab. Recently he has also written an introductory book about Cinder Cinder: Begin Creative Coding, published by Packt Publishing. Platon Buravicky is an academic sound artist based in Riga, Latvia. In the Metasphere project he has been involved to do an experiment transfer his knowledge about traditional music composition to digital sound production using creative coding and digital sound creation tools.
He has studied piano in Vilnis Smidberg and Peteris Vasks classes. Peteris Vasks is a well known Latvian composer and has been Platon's main source of inspiration. Currently Platon is finishing BA in the Music Academy of Latvia. He has won the Latvian Music School Composer Price for three times.

METASPHERE
Metasphere is an audiovisual installation that shows the fragile nature of the inner state of a human being. This work portrays a fragment of the everyday perception experience. That includes the process of observation of the surrounding environment and how it interacts with the subjective reflections of it.The round shape of the screen is a symbol of completeness.
