Last week, Hai Art, international platform for experimental art in Hailuoto, Finland, won a prize for best cultural practice in a competition for the EU/ governmental funded projects between 2007-2013 in rural Finland. Congratulations to Hai Art!
Hai Art ‘engages the local community as well as invites international artists, curators and competence to the remote island [...] They want form a vision, how to combine existence with nature and digital technology, manifesting local and global awareness through artistic practice.’
While they are honoured to receive this recognition, they also explain in their statement that they look critically at the EU & the Finnish government policies. They are also calling out to the Finnish government to cancel all further plans to build nuclear power plants and support the development of sustainable energy solutions.
